  19. The dBench utility provides diagnostics, benchmarking and 4x4 simulation
  20. in a single menu-driven package.

  23. ** DIAGNOSTICS **
  24. This section performs a comprehensive series of tests on the coprocessor
  25. after first identifying CPU and FPU type.

  29. ** BENCHMARKS **
  30. This section performs a varied series of floating point calculations. The
  31. tests are carried out twice,  on the first pass,  the coprocessor is given
  32. the calculations,  on the second the coprocessor is ignored.  An estimate
  33. of the improvement is finally given.

  35. NOTE:
  36. Some disk activity takes place during the benchmark tests. The benchmark
  37. calculations are carried out ignoring such activity (as they should be).
  38. The effect of this howvere is that if running from floppy disk the elapsed
  39. time of the test will be somewhat longer than the figure displayed.  In
  40. order to minimise this effect it is recommended that the tests are copied
  41. onto your hard disk before starting.

  45. ** 4 X 4 **
  46. This section performs a simulation of the benefits to be gained by using
  47. the 4x4 microcode over attempting to perform a similar series of calculations
  48. by software.  Some brief information on the 4x4 code is incorporated in
  49. the program,  further information and the library modules and example
  50. source code are to be found in the directory F4X4.
